Bidirectional charging with Peugeot, how does that work exactly?

Bidirectional charging seems to be the next logical step in the developments in the field of electric driving. However, to make this possible on a large scale, many steps are still needed, including in the field of car models that are suitable for bidirectional charging. Peugeot is not yet a car manufacturer to keep an eye on in this context, as developments here seem to be at a very low level. Can you already charge bidirectionally with your Peugeot and what does it look like for the near future?

Can you already charge bidirectionally with your electric Peugeot?

No, there are no Peugeot models yet that allow bidirectional charging. V2X and V2G are not yet available for Peugeot models and at the moment there are no models planned that can fully charge bidirectionally.

You can now charge bidirectionally with these Peugeot models

The Peugeot e-3008 comes closest to bidirectional charging with a V2L. For this you will of course need a V2L adapter. Furthermore, Peugeot is working on the technology (especially within the PSA Group), but no concrete plans have been released yet about models that allow bidirectional charging, unlike almost all other car brands.

Peugeot and bidirectional charging: what can we expect in the future?

Peugeot is not so much known as an innovative or progressive brand, so there is a good chance that this brand will explore the possibilities in the near future after having waited to see what happens. The big advantage is that Peugeot can then draw on a large source of knowledge and can immediately set up a strong model with all the options. The expectation is that Peugeot will choose a model in line with the 3008 with a strong battery pack and can therefore make bidirectional charging immediately attractive.

This is what you want to know about bidirectional charging for your home or business

Peugeot still offers relatively few options when it comes to bidirectional charging. It is true that Peugeot has come a lot closer with the e-3008 and there is a good chance that we can expect news from France soon. At the same time, it is not so strange that PSA has not been in such a hurry, because a suitable car is not enough to actually be able to charge bidirectionally at your home or business. More is needed for that. First of all, a smart meter and a suitable network, and in addition a charging station that is suitable for bidirectional charging. This makes it unlikely that bidirectional charging will be implemented on a large scale in the short term and therefore makes it likely that Peugeot will come up with a strong option at the right time that will attract the enthusiasts of this brand to the dealers.
