Charging cables
(10 products)
Which charging cable do I need for my electric car?
Choosing the right charging cable is essential for safe and efficient charging. Most modern EVs in Europe use a Type 2 (Mennekes) plug . Older or American/Japanese models sometimes still use Type 1 (Yazaki) . Check the plug type of your car or consult the manual. All our charging cables are suitable for public charging or for use at a charging station at home.
1-phase or 3-phase, 16A or 32A?
The charging capacity of your cable depends on the number of phases and amperage your car supports:
-
1-phase 16A : up to 3.7 kW – suitable for slow charging (PHEV or older electric cars)
-
1-phase 32A : up to 7.4 kW – faster charging via 1-phase connection (Often EVs until 2019)
-
3-phase 16A : up to 11 kW – standard at many charging stations (still the standard from 2019)
-
3-phase 32A : up to 22 kW – maximum speed (EVs with large battery packs or EVs without fast charging capability)
Length, use and safety
Our charging cables are available in different lengths (5m, 8m, 10m). Choose a length that suits your situation: if you often park a little further away from the charging station, take a longer cable. Do not use an extension cord for safety reasons - a suitable charging cable is safer and more efficient.

Frequently asked questions about charging cables
What is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2?
Type 1 is outdated and mainly found on older Asian/US cars. Type 2 is the standard in Europe.
Can I charge any EV with the same cable?
As long as the plug matches and the charging station can handle the power, yes. Pay attention to compatibility with Type 1/2 and 1-/3-phase.
Can I use an extension cord when charging?
No, this is not recommended due to overheating and safety.
What length charging cable do I need?
It depends on where you charge. For home use, 5–8 meters is often ideal.
How do I maintain my charging cable?
Store dry and rolled up in a storage bag. Avoid sharp bends or damage.
