Which charging station or charging point suits you?

Charging stations come in all shapes and sizes. You can choose a 22 kW charging station, so that you are immediately ready for the future, a charger with two outlets to charge two electric cars at the same time or charging stations that you can switch to charge an entire fleet. To give you guidance in the sea of possibilities, we have set up our selection aid. Click on the button below and you can get started right away.

Want to know more about the possibilities available in the field of charging solutions?

With the wide range of possibilities, brands and models, we have listed a few important points below so that you know what to look for when you want to search the website yourself. Good to remember: our experts are ready to help you personally if you get stuck or have questions about the charging stations and charging stations on our website.

What connection do you have and what do you actually need?

The charging station you choose must be connected to the network you have. In most cases, this means that you can charge at home on a connection between 10 and 16 amps on 1 phase. This allows you to charge at a maximum of 3.7 kW, which is enough to charge the car to 100% overnight.

However, the battery capacity of the electric car is increasing, as is the maximum charging capacity of the car itself. This makes it increasingly interesting to look at a 22 kW (or 11 kW) charging station. If you do not have a 3-phase connection, the connection must be reinforced for this. If you want to be able to charge optimally and cheaply, this investment will quickly pay for itself.

Do you have a 3-phase connection at home or at work? Then we always recommend a charging station with a high maximum charging capacity, because this fits in with the developments.

1 charging cable, 2 charging cables or no charging cables at all on the charging station?

Charging stations are always equipped with outlets (also called sockets) or charging cables. Here too, it is wise to think about the possibilities. If you opt for a fixed charging cable, you never have to look for the cable and you can always charge immediately. Since the charging cable itself is the weakest part of the installation, you can also choose to take a charging station with outlet. If the cable gets damaged, you can simply replace it without having to replace the installation.

Another point is the number of connections. Even if you currently have one electric car, a double charging station can be interesting for the future. For business users, we actually always recommend double charging stations. This allows you to charge two cars at the same time without needing multiple charging stations.

DLB: How important is dynamic loading actually?

Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB, often also called load balancing or dynamic charging) is increasingly seen when you are looking for a charging station. That is not strange. When charging your electric car, you use a large part of the available voltage in your home or business. If you have multiple power guzzlers, charging the car can cause the system to become overloaded and you will run out of power.

Load balancing ensures that the charging station only uses the power that is available, whereby other devices and machines are never hindered by the charging. Dynamic charging is actually recommended as standard nowadays, especially with a view to the electric car of the future that can charge with a much higher power and there will be an even greater pressure on the energy network.

Load balancing is also ideal for people with solar panels. Note that for dynamic charging you not only need a smart charging station, but also a smart energy meter. The charging station and the energy meter must be able to communicate with each other!

A cheap charging station or a more expensive charging station?

With a cheaper entry-level model, the investment is smaller and you can still optimally charge your electric car. All our charging stations, including the cheaper models, meet all requirements and are suitable products for charging your car. Of course, the cheapest charging stations are the charging solutions without extra features or functions. If you don't need that, then this is a great choice.

However, do you want to be ready for the coming years or are you a business user? Then we advise you to look at what you need. Choosing a cheaper model in these cases results in optimal charging or the charging station cannot offer what you need. If this means a new investment in another charging station in the foreseeable future, you will ultimately end up paying more than if you had chosen a suitable charging station in one go.

Backoffice: nonsense, useful or mandatory?

There is another point that deserves more attention. Most charging stations are supplied with a back office. In concrete terms, this means that you have insight into the consumption of the charging station and can operate the charging station remotely. For a private user, a back office can be useful or interesting, and in some cases even mandatory. If you want the employer to pay for the charged electricity, monthly totals must be able to be written out, which the employer can include in the administration. With an extensive back office, you can also lock and unlock the charging station remotely, so that you always decide for yourself who has access.

For the business user, we always recommend a charging station with a back office, ideally even with a smart kWh meter (approved by the Tax Authorities) and with identification options, such as facial recognition, drops, charging cards or access via an application. Not only because this way you keep a better overview and can declare, but also because you always know what is happening and what exactly the charging station is doing for you. A back office is also necessary to let customers pay for the electricity supplied.
