A mobile charging station, what can you do with it?
An electric car needs to be charged, otherwise you won't get anywhere. You can use a mobile charger or a charging station to charge it. The mobile charger is in fact not much more than a cable with a system in it that provides communication between the car and the socket. A charging station, such as a wall charger, is a more attractive and comprehensive solution. But does this mean that the mobile charger is not an option? On the contrary; charging at home with mobile chargers is very common. Of course, you can read everything you need to know about this with us.
What exactly is a mobile charging station?
Let's get straight to the point; the mobile charging station literally has nothing in common with a station. The mobile charging station for electric cars is a cable with two plugs, equipped with a 'box' containing the control equipment. One of the plugs is suitable for a standard wall socket (socket). The other plug is suitable for the EV.
By plugging the plug into the socket and placing the other plug into the EV and then starting the box, the car is charged.
What are the advantages of a mobile charging station?
The better mobile charging stations (or home chargers) are equipped with many tricks. For example, they communicate between the car and the socket, in order to prevent overcharging. If the car indicates that the battery has reached the maximum charge, the box closes the communication between the car and the socket. If the system notices a dip in the power network, or if too high a voltage is being charged, charging is interrupted. The better mobile charging stations are equipped with programming that ensures that charging is automatically resumed when the power network is stable again. This is also called a restart function.
Another – fairly obvious – advantage of the mobile charging station is that it is… mobile. This means that you can also take it with you to work (when there are not enough charging stations there) or when you go on a visit somewhere. The better mobile charging stations, such as this home charger , are equipped with a meter that keeps track of the number of kWh. This way you know immediately what you owe someone when you charge your car somewhere where you are a guest.
Please note that most of our mobile home chargers can charge at 16A. This is a bigger advantage than you might think. There are many mobile charging stations on the market that charge up to 10A. By charging at 16A you charge many times faster (60% faster than with a 10A charger).
What should I pay attention to when choosing a mobile charging station?
With the better mobile charging stations you determine the charging speed yourself. It is wise to put the charger on an empty group or a group with little load (so no freezers, washing machines, kettles and dishwashers on the same group). In this way the maximum speed can be used, so that charging is completed in a much shorter time.
You need a power outlet near the car. Is this not available? Then call an electrician and tell him what you need the power outlet for. He will then arrange the new group for you, so that you can always charge optimally. Please note that the cables of the mobile charging stations have a maximum load when you drive over them. The maximum loaded weight is stated with our products. It is of course best not to drive over the cables of the charger.
Also note the type of plug you need. There are two different types of charging cables. Type 1 (J1772) is not the same as type 2 (Mennekes).

Should you opt for a mobile charging station or a fixed charging station?
Have you bought an EV or have a model in mind and now need a way to charge your car at home? Then you have roughly two options. On the one hand, the charging station at home, often mounted on the wall. On the other hand, the mobile charging station that you can connect directly to a power outlet.
There are websites that state that a fixed charging station is best when there is no power outlet nearby. However, it is questionable what the costs are for installing a power outlet; often this is very reasonable and the electrician can immediately create a new group for you so that you can charge optimally.
You should ask yourself whether you want to be able to declare the costs, for example because you have to charge a company car at home. In that case, the charging station with back office is a better option. If you don't need that and you can make do with a mobile charging station that provides insight into consumption, albeit without a monthly overview, then the mobile charging station is an excellent solution.
Are you an entrepreneur and are you looking for solutions for employees of whom you are not sure whether they will remain in service for a long time and do you not want to have difficult agreements drawn up? Then the mobile charging station is the best solution. This can simply be returned when the employment relationship ends, without additional costs.
